I-940 is on the ballot for the November 6, 2018 election. We have some basic information explaining why this is bad legislation for your local law enforcement as well as ALL of the community. Please take the time to read the initiative and educate yourself before you vote. This initiative was written by groups who want to make it easier to prosecute law enforcement officers, not educate them as they would want you to believe.

Law enforcement officers in Washington State already receive the training they want you to think we need. And the training they want us to receive per the initiative is unfunded meaning that the money will have to come from department budgets that are already very thin. This means that likely cuts would have to be made to other programs to make this happen. One of the most important things they don't tell you is that if there is a mass shooting or other extreme incident, we would be required by law to provide aid to the suspect before any other victims. Let that sink in for a minute.

All we are asking is that you make an informed decision when you vote. Not just for us cops but for ALL of us within our communities.

The Everett Police Officer's Association represents over 170 members which includes all of the officers and sergeants on the Everett Police Department. As a not for profit association, we receive no funding from government agencies or tax dollars. We strive to provide assistance to officers in many forms.

The Everett Police Officer's Association is the proud sponsor/organizer of the Annual Senior (at the Everett Senior Center) Dinner at the City of Everett Senior Center, for over 30 years. The E.P.O.A. also participates in numerous charitable events.

E.P.O.A. core Charities:

Heroes and Helpers in co-operation with Target stores (Shop with a Cop), Safe Place (Hand in Hand, helping with foster kids), Everett (Casino Road) Futbol Academy, EPOA Chaplains Fund (providing vouchers for hotels for domestic violence victims and food), Everett Boys and Girls Club, Washington Law Enforcement Memorial Fund, and other miscellaneous charities.

Most importantly, we work hard to protect the benefits, working conditions, training and equipment of our members so they can continue to work hard to protect all of us in the community.

The E.P.O.A is not affiliated in any form with the Everett Police Management Association.
